Susan Hester grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. Her mother worked as a school secretary and her father was a US Army Corp Veteran and a businessman. She later received her bachelor’s degree in education from The Ohio State University and then her masters at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. After college she moved to Bellevue and taught at Bellevue Public Schools for 33 years.
Currently Susan is the Director of Nebraska Science Olympiad and is involved in the League of Women Voters, Nebraska Academy of Sciences, Bellevue Together, Bellevue Women’s Club, Nebraska Questers and the Bellevue Public Schools Foundation. She’s also on the Eastern Nebraska Community Action Partnership Board (ENCAP), and was appointed to serve on the Bellevue Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Board.
Susan and her husband Kirk, have 6 children and 13 grandchildren.
